North East Youth Football is raising money for Ed Sosa, one of the victims of the Edgewood business park shooting.
Sosa has four children in North East's football and cheerleading programs. He is currently in critical condition at University of Maryland Shock Trauma.
"Him and his wife Amy are just an integral piece of our community," said program President Tammy Wade. "He come very energetic and enthusiastic on the sidelines cheering on his kids, cheering on his cheerleader. He's just a really great guy."
Every year, the program holds a "Pie in the Face" raffle fundraiser, which gives players the chance to cream their coaches. Following the shooting, North East Youth Football is directing all of those proceeds to the Sosa family and matching the total earned.
"We're with these kids every single day, sometimes more than we're with our own children," says Wade.
Head Coach Matthew Raines says some parents are even considering making meals for the family while they are spending time in the hospital.
"We'll help. Anybody will help. We'll all jump in. Whatever they need," Raines said.
Raffle tickets were sold outside North East Middle School on Thursday night, but will also be on sale at team games this Saturday.
According an update from Sosa's family, he is still in a lot of pain but is now responding to commands from doctors.
