HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. - Commuters who use the Hatem Bridge in Cecil County will be changing the way they pay the toll soon.
The plans to start rolling out new E-ZPass plans for bridge users next week. Currently, frequent users of the bridge pay $10 for an annual decal, to avoid paying the $5 toll. MDTA is working to replace the decals with E-ZPass transponders.
"The MDTA is committed to customer service and making this transition as seamless as possible for Hatem Bridge users," said MDTA Executive Secretary Harold M. Bartlett in a press release. "We are offering many options for customers to sign up for Hatem Bridge plans, including extending JFK Highway E-ZPass Stop-in Center Hours through September, introducing on-line enrollment for both Choice A and Choice B on Feb. 13 at ezpassmd.com and extending AVI decals that expire in January through Feb. 29 so these customers have adequate time to learn about and sign up for E-ZPass."
All decal users must switch to E-ZPass by September 30 of this year. And in July 2013, the yearly fee for the plan will go up to $20.
