Thursday night in North East was all about one number. No. 57.
It was on helmets, towels, signs, faces and surely in the hearts of the Patterson Mill football family.
“He was always gentle about everything,” said Isaac’s older brother Aaron. “And no matter what, he always smiled.”

Thursday was the Huskies’ first game since the sudden passing of Isaac Pfarr. The 17-year-old played guard for Patterson Mill. He died on Sunday. His parents tell us Isaac had epilepsy and may have missed a dose of medication.
“Tonight was huge for me, my little sister, my family. Everybody coming out seeing the game he loved to play,” Aaron said.
A moment of silence was held before kickoff. Tears flowing from Isaac’s grieving parents in the stands. And on the first play of the game, Patterson Mill took the field one player short, they were charged with a delay of game penalty. A gesture to show Isaac he’s still with them.
“I’m glad they recovered from snapping the ball with just 10 because I know it had to hit them. I know it hit me on the sideline,” said Patterson Mill head coach Steve Lurz. “I’m just proud of them.”
As for the game itself, the Huskies beat Rising Sun 45-26.
There’s no doubt Isaac was looking down on them on Thursday.
“He would have been ecstatic. Probably super excited, pumped, proud of his team, proud of everybody,” said Lurz. “It would have been good for him. He would have been happy.”
“He never stopped smiling. He’s still smiling, I can guarantee you that,” Aaron said.
A viewing for Isaac will be held Friday. He will be laid to rest Saturday wearing his No. 57 Patterson Mill football jersey.
