PERRYVILLE, Md. (WMAR) -- A 3-year-old boy is in critical condition after police say he was hit by a car last night.
Sergeant Budnick with the Perryville Police Department says the accident happened at 10:04 p.m. on Route 40 near Aiken Avenue in the turn lane.
The child walked out into the westbound turn lane of Route 40 when a vehicle driven by a 69-year-old Perryville resident struck him. The vehicle was determined to going no more than 30 to 34 miles per hour, said Budnick.
The boy was flown to Johns Hopkins Pediatrics Intensive Care Unit where he is listed in critical condition.
Police say the boy was crossing with his family, but they were not in a crosswalk and the area is not very well lit.
