PERRYVILLE - The body of a 5-year-old boy was pulled from the water near Perryville Sunday.
Police said a 5-year-old boy was riding a scooter on a pier near Rodgers Tavern in Perryville Sunday evening while his family was nearby.
When a family member noticed the scooter the boy had been riding was lying on the pier and the boy was nowhere in sight, the family started to search the water for him.
A member of the fire department’s rescue team who happened to be in the area noticed the commotion and joined the search, ultimately pulling the boy’s body from the water.
Police are not sure how long the boy was in the water, but estimate it could have been anywhere from five to 10 minutes.
The boy’s name has not been released, but police say he lived in the 500 block of Broad Street in Perryville.
Once the investigation comes to a close, the Cecil County State’s Attorney is expected to review the case to determine whether or not charges are appropriate.
