12 were injured after a three-car crash in Westminster Saturday night.

Maryland State Police say crews were called to a crash on eastbound MD Route 140/Taneytown Pike west of Mayberry Rd in Westminster around 6:00 p.m.

Police investigation shows a 2011 Nissan Sentra, driven by 32-year-old Crystal Rich, was driving east on 140 when Rich failed to control the speed, striking a 2006 GMC Van causing it to hit a 2006 Honda Civic.

Police shut down Route 140 in both directions for two hours for their investigation and cleanup.

Police say all six people in the Sentra were injured and rushed to Johns Hopkins Hospital, four by air and two by ground. They included the driver, a 25-year-old passenger, an 11-year old girl, an eight-year-old boy, and a five-year-old boy.

Police say one person in the GMC van was taken to Carroll Hospital.

All of the patients are said to be in 'stable condition' according to police. Twelve people total were involved in the accident among the three cars.

Police say charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call TFC Eckhardt #6469 at the Maryland State Police Westminster Barrack at (410) 386-3000.
