WESTMINSTER, Md. (WMAR) - A 30-year-old man is recovering from serious injuries following a motorcycle crash Saturday morning in Westminster.
Maryland State Police say the crash happened just before 11:00 a.m. on Route 27 at Old Manchester Road.
A preliminary investigation has revealed that a 78-year-old man, driving a 2002 Chevrolet Impala, was traveling on the south side of Route 27 turning left onto Old Manchester Road.
The motorcycle driver was traveling north on Route 27.
According to State Police, several witness reports and evidence collected at the scene reveal that the 78-year-old driver turned into the path of the motorcycle.
Police say the cyclist was unable to avoid the crash. The motorcycle driver, identified as Brian Lenz, was flown to Shock Trauma where he remains in serious condition.
It was determined that neither speed nor alcohol were a factor in the collision.
This accident is one of three crashes involving motorcycles in the Baltimore area on Saturday.
