A 50-year-old Eldersburg man died Monday evening after being struck by a car on Route 26 (Liberty Road). Maryland State Police say officers were called to the scene at 8:43 p.m. on eastbound MD 26 east of Hemlock Road.
Investigators believe the man was crossing Liberty Rd between Hemlock Rd and Ridge Rd when he was hit by a 2013 Nissan Sentra being driven by a 17-year-old female. There was also a 17-year-old passenger in the vehicle.
The man was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Police say the man’s name will be released upon notification of his next of kin; the driver’s name will not be released as she is a minor.
