The lights were turned off and door closed early, and they will stay that way until Tuesday morning. Even then, Jeannie Bird Baking Company will not be the same.

"I noticed it was dark. I thought that was odd. Usually there's some activity here, so really just no words for this. Very sad and shocked and my thoughts go out to the family," Steve Horn, a customer, said.

Word was still spreading around Main Street and Westminster Friday evening that the crash they all heard about in the morning claimed the life of Jeannie Vogel.

"It just breaks your heart. It's so sad and people knew obviously Jeannie Bird and they know the local community so well and you see something happen like that it just hits you so hard like 'Oh my God, I was just there. Or O just saw her'. It's very sad. Its obviously very sad for downtown," Steve Moore, owner of nearby Run Moore, said.

Hundreds of comments have been flooding the baking company's Facebook page, along with the flowers and written messages right on their doorstep.

It was a few minutes past 4 a.m. that the 911 call came in about a crash at the intersection of Route 27 and Chapel Road.

Maryland State Police said the early indication is that a tractor trailer collided with Jeannie's car in the intersection, leading both vehicles to catch fire.

"It's a difficult intersection. We have a number of accidents at this scene. Earlier a number of us were shaking our heads and scratching our heads and trying to figure out why it is that we have as many accidents at this scene as we do," Kevin Dayhoff, spokesperson and chaplain for the Westminster Fire Department, told ABC2.

"I hope the business sticks around and bounces back and it's just definitely going to be a tough couple days to figure out what's going on. It's definitely on people's mind what's going on with Jeannie Bird. We're thinking about the family," Moore said.

The driver of the tractor trailer involved in the crash is identified as Wendy Morpas, 26, of Florida. He refused medical treatment on the scene.

The Carroll County State's Attorney's Office will decide if any charges will be filed once the investigation is complete.
