Dozens of students, parents and other supporters of North Carroll High School turned out Monday to protest a proposal to close the school.

Closing the school is part of a larger plan to redistrict and close several schools in Carroll County.

Protesters wore school colors -- red and black -- to show their support for the school that's been part of the town for more than five decades.

Parents and supporters said the school is an important part of the town and they don't want their children bused farther away.

Boundary adjustment recommendations were the topic of Monday's school board meeting. According to the county schedule, the public was not allowed to speak at the meeting.
