The Westminster Police Department joined 150 local children to go "shopping" for school supplies for the coming year Monday.
The ninth annual back-to-school event hosted by the Westminster Police was in Dutterer's Park. The school supplies on deck were made possible through community donations and "sizable donations" from Koons Toyota and Buchanan Kia, officials said.
Officials said that the "Shop with a Cop" event allows children to meet and interact with police officers in a low stress, non-confrontational environment.
Following the shopping spree, the department provided lunch and recreational activities including a water slide.
