A Westminster elementary school teacher helped bring the Ravens to her school Monday by winning the 2016 M & T Bank Touchdown for Teachers Award.

Ravens Running Back Justin Forsett, Ravens cheerleaders and mascot Poe visited Runnymede Elementary School to recognize Susan Routson, the winner of the third Touchdown for Teachers award.

Routson teaches physical education at Runnymede, and has been teaching there since the school opened in 1994. She was selected from over 400 nominations and presented with a $2,000 grant donation for the school.
Forsett addressed the student body and participated in student-led activities at the school.

In addition to working in the classroom, Routson teaches an after school tennis camp and used to coach lacrosse.

She’s known in her community for her passion in fighting hunger. Since she started a school-wide walkathon to raise funds for Carroll County Food Sunday, a local group that feeds the hungry in Carroll County, efforts organized by Routson have raised over $145,000.
