A Carroll County Sheriff’s deputy was injured Friday afternoon in a five-car accident, officials said in a release.
Master Deputy Mario DeVivio was driving eastbound along Route 140 when an 83-year-old Finksburg woman driving a Jeep Wrangler made a turn from the westbound lane.
According to the release, DeVivio was unable to avoid the collision, which triggered a chain reaction involving three other cars.
Five people were transported to Carroll Hospital Center with non-life threatening injuries shortly after 1:21 p.m.
The investigation into the accident continues.
