Carroll County is working to curb drug abuse through new banners along MD 140 in front of the Maryland State Police Barrack in Westminster.

The banner shows that 46 people died due to fatal drug overdoses in the county last year.

Those struggling with addiction can call the phone number on the banner. It will connect them to the Carroll County State's Attorney's Drug Education and Treatment liaison - who acts as a 24/7 resource in helping those addicted to drugs to find immediate treatment.

Carroll County State's Attorney Brian DeLeonardo commented on the importance of the sign's message.

“While those in law enforcement, the treatment community, and in emergency services know the significant challenge we face as to drug overdoses, this was a great opportunity to further educate the public and increase awareness," he said. "Even more significant to me is the banner tells any person that is seeking drug treatment that there is help just a phone call away.”
