The Carroll County Sheriffs' Office were called to a crash involving a train and a car Saturday afternoon.

Police say the driver of a Ford Focus was behind two cars approaching railroad tracks traveling from Howard County into Carroll County.

The driver of the Ford decided to go around the other two cars, while they stopped and adhered to the active railroad crossing lights, and traveled into the crossway.

Subsequently, the Ford was hit by a CSX train and suffered severe front-end damage.

The driver, a 21-year-old man from Woodbine, was not injured in the crash.

Police say the train only suffered minor damage.

The driver of the Ford was issued citations for Failure to stay right of center, Driver failure to obey RR grade crossing gate and barrier, and Driving on an expired license.
