An 82-year-old woman died in a head-on collision in Finksburg Wednesday.
Maryland State Police responded to MD 140 at Dede Road at approximately 6:15 p.m. A Hyundai Sonata and a Toyota Corolla were involved in an accident.
The 82-year-old died at the scene and was later identified as Jean Louis Griffin of Westminster. The other driver was transported to Shock Trauma in serious, but stable condition. He was identified as 69-year-old Richard Leo Hamilton of Westminster.
Upon their initial investigation, police believe Richard Hamilton was driving eastbound on MD 140 and for unknown reasons, continued to drive over into a left turn lane and then into oncoming traffic going westbound on MD 140 where he struck the car driven by Ms. Griffin.
Maryland State Police closed the road for over three hours to investigate. The investigation is ongoing and police ask anyone with information or who witnessed the accident to contact Trooper Deater of the Westminster Barrack at 410-386-3000.
