One man is dead after a car crash in Carroll County Thursday night and police are looking into the cause of the accident.
Shortly before 9:30 p.m. 33-year old Charles Michael Goad, Jr. of Westminster was driving a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse eastbound on Route 26 east of Fallon Road in Eldersburg, according to Maryland State Police.
At the same time, a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze was driving westbound on Route 26 and the two cars collided head on.
Goad was pronounced dead at the scene and the other driver, a 39-year-old from Sykesville, was taken to Shock Trauma for treatment of injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
The second driver's name has not been released by police.
The cause of the collision is unknown and an investigation is ongoing.
The roadway was closed for more than three hours as the police investigated the accident.
