Police have released the name of the a woman who died in a weekend house fire in Baltimore County.

Rosa Mae Mason, 66, died in a fire inside her townhome in the unit block of King Charles Circle on Saturday.

Mason's 36-year-old son told police he heard her calling from an upstairs bedroom and tried to get her out, but couldn't because of the heavy smoke and fast-spreading fire, according to Baltimore County Police.

Her son, who also lived at the King Charles Circle home, was evaluated at the scene, but wasn't taken to a hospital. A firefighter from the White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company was taken to MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center for treatment of injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.

Fire crews responded to the home around 7 p.m. A total of 17 pieces of fire equipment responded to the scene and crews brought the fire under control within 35 minutes, according to police.

Fire investigators haven't determined what caused the fire, but confirm it was not set on purpose.
