The U.S. News & World Report 2017 America's Best Colleges ranks Towson University in its top regional public schools.

Towson takes the No. 14 spot for the North region, out of 62 institutions surveyed. The university ranks 51 overall out of the 195 private and public institutions in the north.

“The America’s Best Colleges rankings are a direct reflection of our more than 100 outstanding graduate and undergraduate degree programs, our excellent faculty and our students’ strong academic performance,” said TU President Kim Schatzel in a statement.

TU was also ranked 29th of 54 in the best colleges for veterans category. Universities in the category participate in federal initiatives helping veterans and active-duty service members apply for, pay for, and complete their degrees.

“We are especially proud of being recognized again as one of the nation’s best colleges for veterans,” Schatzel added. “As an institution, we want to do everything we can to help our servicemen and women, whether active duty or veteran, earn their college degrees.”
