Two dead, two hurt in Route 40 crash

MIDDLE RIVER, Md. - Two people are dead and two others badly hurt after an early morning crash in Baltimore County.

Police say the single vehicle crash involving a Ford Mustang happened at Route 40 and Martin Boulevard around 6:30 a.m.

A man and a woman  were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car, identified only as a 22-year-old man, was taken to Shock Trauma in serious condition.  Another passenger, a 25-year-old man,  was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview and is listed in stable condition. 

Police have not released the identities of the victims.

Route 40 was shut down in both directions for several hours as crash investigators gathered evidence from the scene. 


The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Preliminary investigation indicates that speed may have been a factor.
