Tree branch kills driver, injures passenger

GLEN ARM, Md. - A large branch fell from its tree and took down power lines before striking and killing the driver of a moving automobile.

Shortly after 11 p.m. Friday night, Police and Fire officials got word of an automobile accident with injuries on the 13100 block of Dulaney Valley Road.  However after an initial investigation, it proved to be more out of the ordinary.

60-year-old James Walter Power, from Forest Hill, was driving his 2007 Hyundai Sonata with an 18-year-old passenger -- Timothy Carroll Power, of the same address -- when a large tree branch broke off, taking down power lines and eventually colliding with Power's vehicle.

Both individuals were transported to Saint Joseph's Medical Center where James Walter Power was pronounced dead.   Timothy Carroll Power received treatment for minor injuries.

The incident is still being investigated by the Baltimore County Police Department Crash Team.
