BALTIMORE - The Baltimore Police Department plans on resuming its training academy for new recruits this week. Training exercises were suspended after a trainee was shot in the head last week.
Department spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi says while training will resume, it will be in a limited capacity. He says firearms practices will also be moved to the end of the curriculum.
Meantime, Commissioner Anthony Batts has requested the Maryland Police and Training Commission to audit the department's training procedures. The Maryland State Police is also continuing its own criminal investigation.
The trainee who was shot remains at Shock Trauma in critical condition.
