Documents show Towson University's national championship-winning cheerleading team gave new members alcohol and encouraged them to wear adult diapers in a hazing incident that resulted in a semester-long suspension.
The team was suspended by the university for the 2013-14 academic year. After the team submitted an appeal, the school opted instead for a one-semester social suspension that allowed the team to practice, but barred it from making appearances.
New documents detail incidents that involved veteran cheerleaders blindfolding freshman team recruits, giving them alcohol and adult diapers to wear over their shorts.
The school charged the team with three violations of its Code of Student Conduct including the hazing policy, serving alcohol to students under 21 and endangering student health and safety.
