COCKEYSVILLE, Md. - The Virginia women's lacrosse program will honor Cockeysville's Yeardley Love in March by retiring her number.
The ceremony will begin 10 minutes prior to the Cavalier's game against Penn State at Klockner Stadium on Sunday, March 6.
During the ceremony, the number one worn by Love will be permanently retired in remembrance of her life and commitment to the women's lacrosse program and the University.
"I hope our fans can attend and join all of us - our team, Yeardley's closest friends and her family - as we remember and honor her," Virginia head coach Julie Myers said. "Yeardley's presence and influence on all of us will be forever cherished and held deep in our hearts."
The Cockeysville native was found dead in her off-campus apartment in May 2010. Her ex-boyfriend, George Hughley, is charged with her murder.
