BALTIMORE - Thirty-four high school student musicians performed alongside members of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra during Baltimore County Public Schools’ annual Side-by-Side concert Tuesday.
The annual concert, held at Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, featured a cello solo performance by Dulaney High School junior Ben Lee. The music students who performed represented Catonsville, Dulaney, Hereford, Lansdowne, Perry Hall and Towson high schools.
The students, all members of the county's high school honors band or orchestra, were selected through auditions. They participated in master classes with members of the BSO.
The program featured Fantasia and Fugue in C Minor by Bach, Cello Concerto No. 1 in C Major, Movement III by Haydn and Finlandia and Symphony No. 2 Finale by Sibelius. It was led by BSO Education Conductor Ken Lam, artistic director and conductor of the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra.
