The State Highway Administration will begin resurfacing projects on I-83 and I-795.

In Hunt Valley, resurfacing is nearly complete on I-83 between Dairy Road and York Road. SHA is prepared to patch, grind, pave and restripe a one-mile section of I-83 in Parkton. The area accommodates an average traffic volume of 51,000 vehicles daily, much of which is truck traffic.

Then contractors will switch to northwest Baltimore County, where a 2.4-mile stretch of highway has not been resurfaced since 1991. Approximately 56,000 vehicles travel on I-795 between Frankin Boulevard and MD-140 every day.

The crews are expected to work at night to minimize delays. The projects are expected to be completed by the fall.

The $9.5 million project is part of an area wide contract that includes I-95 between the Baltimore City line and I-695 in the southwest corner. That part of the project is expected to begin in the fall.
