EDGEMERE, Md. (WMAR) - A woman is recovering from serious injuries after police say she was attacked by her own pit bull in Edgemere.
According to Officer Shawn Vinson, spokesperson for the Baltimore County Police Department, the woman was attacked at her home in the 7600 block of North Point Road by a white pit bull before being transported to Johns Hopkins Bayview. There was also a brown pit bull in the home. Police say the woman owned both dogs.
Vinson reports that personnel from the Baltimore County Animal Care and Control department along with Police Department personnel conducted a search for both dogs. The white pit bull was found walking along the 8200 block of North Point Road. Because the dog continued to be aggressive towards officers, it had to be shot and killed.
Police say a short time later the brown pit bull was found and recovered by Animal Care and Control. The animal will be held by the Animal Care and Control unit the investigation concludes.
A phone call system was sent out to alert neighbors of the incident.
