Police release names in officer-involved Milford Mill shooting

MILFORD MILL - Baltimore County Police have released the last names of two officers involved in a shooting in Milford Mill over the weekend.

Officer Small, a nine-year veteran of the department, and Officer Cowley, a three-year veteran of the department, both fired their service weapons while trying to take a man into custody, police said. The man was hit by at least one bullet, police said.

Shortly after 6 a.m. officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of Old Milford Mill Road to check on a report of a woman screaming.

When police arrived they found a man, later identified as Elisa Pridgeon, who was allegedly armed with a knife and refusing to obey police commands, police said.

Pridgeon, 29, of Springhill Avenue in Baltimore allegedly tried to attack a woman who was walking in the area, according to police.

Police say officers used tasers, pepper spray and batons in an effort to take Pridgeon into custody. Officials say he then jumped into a car and tried to hit the arresting officers.

After a brief pursuit Pridgeon was taken into custody. He is charged with two counts each of attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault and second-degree assault as well as single counts of vandalism and resisting arrest.
