Perry Hall student models at 'Prom Jam'

WHITE MARSH, Md. (WMAR) - Thursday night was dress rehearsal for the 2013 "Prom Jam" at the White Marsh Mall. 23 local high school students were the lucky ones selected for the event.

One of the students ready to walk down the runway is Daniel Borowy.

Borowy's mother is excited about the impact the event will have.

"I think there is too much violence out there. Too many people are not accepting people for who they are, differences and everything we all have," Rosemary Bowory, Daniel's mother said.

Seven months ago Daniel was shot at Perry Hall High School. The shooter was convicted and sentenced. This year's event carries a strong message: bullying has to stop.

"It hit me hard when that happened at school and i look forward to seeing daniel here cuz i haven't seen him in a while. I think this would be a good thing towards bullying and show people it's not good," Brianna Stark, a student at Perry Hall High School, said.

"I'm certainly more aware of the violence you know. When something like that happens in your world it makes it alot more real," Rosemary said.

The Baltimore Bully Project will be on-site this Saturday to help spread the anti-bullying message. Daniel mom is happy her son can strut his stuff down the runway while making a difference.

"Everybody needs to learn how to appreciate each other and just get along," Rosemary said.
