A retweet by Baltimore County Schools superintendent Dallas Dance was the topic of discussion at a Board of Education meeting Tuesday.
While some parents have joined Del. Pat McDonough’s call for Dance’s resignation, others showed their support during the meeting.

Dance’s retweet came under fire after Donald Trump’s presidential win. The tweet, written by former Montgomery County superintendent Joshua Starr, asked teachers to "show your muslim, black, latino, jewish, disabled, or just non-white St's, that you love them and will protect them!"
Del. McDonough later called the retweet “racist, divisive, and politically partisan.”
Rep. Andy Harris sent a letter to Dance Wednesday saying that he also is concerned and noting that the tweet was posted before the election results were known.
"As a member of the House Appropriations subcommittee that deals with federal funding of education, I am always concerned with how taxpayer monies meant to educate students (and not to advance a political agenda) are being used," Dr. Harris wrote. "I am particularly concerned when taxpayer funds are being used to discriminate based on race or religion."

Dance said he’s focused on equality and making sure all students feel welcome and supported. Every parent at Tuesday night’s meeting spoke in support of Dance.
