Owners hope Towson Commons renovation will breath new life into Towson

Towson seeing a boom in small businesses

TOWSON, MARYLAND - Towson Commons is now being renovated and the new owners hope to bring new life into Towson.

Towson Commons has had it's challenges in the last few years being brought at prime real estate prices and having to charge tenants substantial rent, causing vacancies within it's holdings.

Now that the Commons has been sold for half the original price things are looking up.

The new owners will be able to charge quite a bit less for the retail space which will make it more attractive for businesses to come into that building.

The Chamber helps small business by having different outdoor activities which brings the community into Towson, like the Farmers Market, Friday night concerts and the different festivals throughout the year.

Nine months ago David and Frida started Maryland Signs and Graphics. They say that more businesses and less vacancies would help.

However most small businesses in the area help one another when it comes to the community, like working with the two local colleges and the Palisades Luxury Apartments.

Hudson outfitters has been vacant for more than a year now and Urban Outfitters is moving in.

The Chamber says the community supports the local businesses and everyone can benefit from that.
