BALTIMORE - Officials are still working to identify the remains of a man found in the Back River in September of 2011.
A forensic reconstruction of the skull released in October 2012 has yet to lead to developments in the case. There was a thought the man may have been a person reported missing in Howard County, but officials were able to determine the remains are not those of that individual.
Officers responded to the Back River under the Interstate 695 Bridge on September 8, 2011. A witness at the scene where the body was found told officers that the body had not been there early in the day. There were no signs of foul play, and the body had been in the water for a significant period of time.
Detectives have not been able to identify the victim through the autopsy, DNA, or fingerprints. The cause of death remains undetermined.
A Baltimore County Police Department forensic artist completed the skull reconstruction in an attempt to determine what the victim may look like. Forensic artists attempt to recreate the features as closely as possible, but some features of the victim may look slightly different.
Detectives are expanding their inquiries to surrounding states and are asking residents in those areas to contact Baltimore County Police if they recognize the victim.
The victim is a white male, 40 to 60 years old.
Anyone with information about the identity of the victim is asked to contact the Baltimore County Police Department at 410-307-2020.
