Oak Crest community hosts veterans parade to celebrate Independence Day

PARKVILLE, Md. - Many of the residents  Oak Crest, the Erickson Living retirement community, in Parkville served our nation.

Some fought in Europe or the Pacific during World War II while others fought during Korea or during the early stage of the Cold War.

On Thursday, the "Greatest Generation"  participated in the Parade of Veterans, an annual tradition at Oak Crest that kicks-off the Independence weekend celebration.

Led by a Color Guard, veterans of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard entered the Erickson Conference Center wearing their service uniforms.  A patriotic ceremony, including music and recognition of each service branch, followed

Paul Grant, a resident of Oak Crest and former U.S. Army Chaplain, will provide the keynote address.
