TOWSON - Going to the movies just became a little more convenient for some Baltimore County residents.
The Cinemark Towson and XD theaters officially open in downtown Towson this week.
The theater is located on Joppa Road east of the traffic circle and anchors the new $85 million Towson Square entertainment center, according to a release from the county.
"With Cinemark's opening at Towson Square, downtown Towson adds an exciting entertainment destination to its lively mix of shopping, restaurants, luxury apartments, townhomes and offices," Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said in a release.
The new state of the art theater also includes a “Reserve Level concept” that features a full bar and lounge as well as VIP seating in five movie auditoriums of the complex’s 15 auditoriums.
"Towson's great demographics and central location make it a perfect fit for one of the largest movie theatre operators in the United States. We're thrilled Cinemark chose downtown Towson to premiere its new Reserve Level concept,” Kamenetz said in the release.
The theater will also validate parking so movie-goers can park at a $2 rate for four hours.
