Imagine having to be outside – even for an hour – when the temperatures drop to dangerously low levels.

It's a reality the homeless face in the winter, and a group in Baltimore County wants to do what it can to keep the homeless warm.

The Miramar Landing community, located in Middle River, is in the process of collecting socks and blankets as part of their "Spread the Warmth" campaign. Their goal is to get 100 pairs of socks and 100 blankets.

"We collected coats last year and had great success with that," said Trina Fernandez, the donation drive organizer. "But coats are seasonal, so we wanted to collect something people could use year-round."

Donations can be dropped off at the Bill Bateman's Express on Compass Drive in Middle River.  They'll be accepting donations until the restaurant closes on Saturday February 20.
