Man killed in metal recycling equipment accident

An employee at a Sparrows Point scrap metal recycling plant died Wednesday after he got trapped in industrial machinery.

Baltimore County Fire Spokesperson Captain Julia Dillard said fire crews were called to Maryland Metals in the 4400 block of North Point Boulevard around 2:45 p.m.

The 20-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said he got caught in a coiler, a machine that coils and uncoils strips of metal.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

Baltimore County police and  Maryland Occupational Safety and Health reprentatives are investigating.
