Loyola Blakefield Players selected to perform at prestigious festival in Scotland

Farewell tour this weekend: 'Godspell'

If you are staying in town this weekend make sure you see the Loyola Blakefield Players presenting the musical Godspell.

Dinner theater performances will be held July 26 and 27 before the group heads to Edinburgh, Scotland. This is their "farewell tour" as the Loyola Blakefield Players have been selected by the American High School Theatre Festival as one of 30 North American schools to perform at the Fringe Theatre Festival in August.

The Blakefield Players were chosen for this honor by the AHSTF after a rigorous selection process that involved a review by the AHSTF's Board of Advisors, a group of renowned college theatre professionals. Theatre director, Christian Garretson says they created this show to fit the Fringe Festival months ago.

The farewell performances will be presented in the Father George Lounge on the Loyola Blakefield Campus, 500 Chestnut Avenue in Towson.

Performance dates Saturday evening, July 26 at 7 p.m.  There is also a Sunday matinee on 1 p.m. Dinner will be served 90 minutes prior to each performance. Tickets are $32 and are available for online purchase now.

While Loyola Blakefield is an all male school, female performers from neighboring schools are in this production.
