LOCHEARN, Md. - A man escaped harm Tuesday after he used a gun to scare off a would-be invader from his Lochern home, Baltimore County police said.
Police said officers responded at 4:18 p.m. to the 5500 block of Piedmont Ave. for a report of someone breaking into a home. The victim told police that he was inside his home working in an upstairs office when he heard something suspicious downstairs.
The victim said he retrieved his handgun and went to the stairwell where he encountered a man who was also carrying a handgun. Police said the victim and suspect both confronted one another and the suspect ran from the home through the back door.
Police determined the suspect went toward the 5400 block of Gwyndale Rd. and into Gwynn Oak Park.
Police said nothing was taken from the home and the suspect is unknown to the victim.
