Local women make strategic connections with large corporations

Women have buying power. According to members of the Women's Business Enterprise National Council, women make up for 80 percent of house buying decisions.

It's that stat that led way to the organization's luncheon held at the Baltimore Hilton Thursday.

Pamela Prince-Eason, president of the WBENC says 1,250 women representing regional companies met with several regional corporations to discuss best practices and develop relationships.

Among those women was Lilly Sarikas, president of Conveyor and Automation Technologies. Sarikas sees the value of women in business. She says it's a value major corporations see as well.

"We've had great success here in Baltimore, Maryland," Sarikas said of the company. "We've been able to grow a manufacturing industry that specializes in food and packaging equipment from major corporations."

Key to the success, Sarikas said, was the strategic partnership with the national council and connection with larger corporations like Coca Cola.
