A case of Legionnaires' disease has prompted water restrictions at the Charlestown Retirement Community in Catonsville.

A resident who moved into a new building on the historic campus tested positive for the disease, which can be contracted through vapor containing the potentially deadly bacteria.

The case was reported to the Baltimore County Health Department.

Typically the health department calls on facilities to impose water restrictions like prohibiting baths or showers and drinking the water when there's risk of exposure. It's not clear if the resident was infected on or off campus.
