The Jemicy School has been helping kids for generations, and Thursday, a major upgrade was revealed.

There was a dedication ceremony for the school's new gym. The new facility was funded by the school's alumni association and the Phyllis and Leonard J. Attman family who also founded the school 44 years ago.

The school works with students with dyslexia or other language-based learning differences. The Attman family said they saw an important need in the community and they wanted to help.

"They teach kids in an extremely wonderful way to make them feel proud of themselves and each one gets more confidence in themselves in every aspect of life," Lenny Attman said.

"If you have the proper person behind you can overcome anything, but you have to have the will to want to do it," Phyllis Attman said.

In addition to the gym, the school received a new classroom, a performing arts theater and floor upgrades.
