Staff and volunteer from the Greater Baltimore Medical Center took time off today to relax and socialize at a company wide barbeque.

"It's absolutely a thank you to all of our people and a celebration of them," said Dr. John Chessare, the president and CEO of GBMC.

There were lots of fun things to do ranging from games of cornhole, to karaoke, to petting animals from the zoo. A flash mob even broke out in the middle of the event in celebration of GBMC's new electronic medical record system.

"The electronic record is a big deal if you have complex medical problems because otherwise you end up continuing re-explaining all your issues every time you go to a new provider," Dr. Chessare said. "It makes the providers work harder and the patient gets stuck in the middle so to have one record for each patient where every provider will see the information will really help both the patients and the provider."

The GBMC Legacy Chase horse mascot also made an appearance. Leaders announced the winning name of the naming contest for the horse. It will be Mojo, short for more joy.

The Legacy Chase will take place this fall. GBMC plans to break the Guinness World Record for the longest awareness ribbon ever.
