HUNT VALLEY, Md. - Former Baltimore Ravens player O.J. Brigance will be hosting an author appearance from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Greetings and Readings in Hunt Valley to celebrate the release of his new book, "Strength of a Champion: Finding Faith and Fortitude Through Adversity."
In the book, Brigance shares the story of his career, his diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease) and his unrelenting fight against the disease.
Brigance is the only professional football player to ever win both a Super Bowl title and a CFL Grey Cup championship in the same city. Brigance was on the Ravens Super Bowl XXXV championship team in 2000 and won a Grey Cup with the Baltimore Stallions in 1995.
Despite having battled ALS since 2007, Brigance remains with the Ravens as a senior adviser to player development. Following his diagnosis Brigance and his wife Chanda created the Brigance Brigade Fund to raise funds to improve the quality of life of ALS patients and their families through much needed equipment and services.
Greetings and Readings is located at 118-AA Shawan Rd. in Hunt Valley.
