Brush fires continue to pop up across the state.
The combination between low humidity and a brisk westerly wind could spark a few more brush fires across Maryland.
Among fires that became a concern Tuesday due to the dry conditions was a two-alarm brush fire in Charles County that burned five barns.
The fire was reported about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the fairgrounds in La Plata. Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department Deputy Chief Jim Duer said nearly 150 firefighters battled the blaze. One firefighter was treated for elevated blood pressure.
The red flag warning is expected to be in effect from noon until 8 p.m. for most of Maryland, Virginia and the D.C. area.
