Fallen heroes remembered today at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens

LUTHERVILLE, Md. - Hundreds of law enforcement officers, firefighters and members of the community will come together to honor those who died in the line of duty today at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.

The ceremony is part of the 28th Fallen Heroes Day. Every year this ceremony is held to honor police officers and firefighters who died while in the line of duty.

Gene Kirchner, the volunteer Reisterstown firefighter who recently died will be remembered today.
Seven emergency responders including  5 police officers, a firefighter, and a correctional facility officer will be honored today.  Kirchner will be formally honored next year.

There is even a section in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens dedicated to those who gave their lives protecting the community.

About 1,500 are expected to attend this event, which is open to the public.

Ceremony starts at 1 p.m. at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens at 200 E. Padonia Road, Lutherville-Timonium, Maryland.
