In a Harford County Walmart parking lot, Josh Springston is on a mission.  He is only 8-years-old, but he's got a heart bigger than most adults.

"I just like helping people and I just want to help make people happy this Christmas," Josh said

That's why he made a sign the size of a poster, and started a campaign to collect donations and fill up "blessing bags" to give to the homeless.

"Because it's winter, and it's very cold outside, and they need a lot of things."

Josh only started his mission two days ago, but thanks to posts on Craigslist and social media, bags and boxes are piling up.  He has been hard at work sorting everything people donate.

"So we have hot hands, they're real good for winter, and we have lots of deodorants, soaps, lotions, toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwash, snacks, water," Josh said.

His sign lists some items that would be good to include in the 'blessing bags' but will take anything the homeless can use.

Tuesday night Josh was out collecting at two drop off locations.  It's a campaign of compassion, and he is working hard to help people who need it.

"It makes me feel real great because I like helping," said Josh.  “I always like get excited to see how happy they are."

He’ll be out this weekend at three more drop off locations to gather donations.  Check HERE for details about when and where.

Josh plans to get the bags packed and drop them off to the homeless during the day on Christmas Eve.
