The Baltimore County School Board voted to eliminate funding for the Dulaney High School renovation Tuesday, according to councilman David Marks.
The school was one of four Baltimore County high schools slated for renovations. The more than $100 million project included Lansdowne, Patapsco and Woodlawn high schools.
The Board voted to send the more than $40 million allocated for Dulaney's renovation to building a new Lansdowne High School, Marks said.
Tuesday's vote will send board members, county officials and parents back to the drawing board to find a solution for Dulaney High School.
Renovations at Woodlawn and Pataspco high schools are expected to be complete in 2019.
Before Tuesday's School Board meeting, Dulaney parents and students rallied against the county's plan to renovate the school. Participants say the more than $40 million renovation project is just a band-aid and the school should be replaced by a new facility.
Dulaney High was built in 1964 and has had additions in 1971 and 1999. The renovation plan proposed by Baltimore County Public Schools CEO Dallas Dance included roof replacement, replacing classroom floors and chalkboards, renovating administrative offices as replacing kitchen equipment.
