UPDATE: Alicia Kunkel was able to talk to her "guardian angel" on the phone Friday night. Cory Huber reached out to ABC2's Skyler Henry after seeing his story on the news.

Huber said he was on his way home from work when he saw the accident unfold. He sprang into action, dragging Kunkel from her vehicle.

The two spoke for a half an hour and plan on meeting soon.

Was he a guardian angel?

One woman says the man who pulled her to safety after a tree fell onto her car, crushing the car’s front, may be.

Now she’s looking for him to say thank you.

A day later, Alicia Kunkel still feels like she’s in the moment.

The moment when she was riding down Dulaney Valley Road, on her way home in the thick of Thursday’s storm, and a tree slammed into her Toyota Four Runner.

“Everything was just caved in, you know, and tons of water was coming through the roof and there was no way out,” Kunkel said.

But for Kunkel, a stranger found a way – spotting the accident in the nick of time.

“He pulled me out of the back window and told me to move away and as I turned to look back at the car, I just saw flames coming up from underneath,” she said.

Flames that engulfed the car within minutes, seconds after Alicia was rescued.

The shell of what was an SUV bent and melted from the damage is sitting at a near tow yard.

Amid all of the commotion, the man pulled Alicia to safety, made sure she was ok and left before she could get a name.

“I could probably recognize his voice, but as far as looking at him, I can’t remember what he looked like and I’d really like to thank him for what he did,” Kunkel said.

It’s a debt of gratitude, Alicia says, she wants to repay…but can’t.

“If he hadn’t cut my belt and put my seat back, I would’ve been trapped inside the car,” Kunkel said.

A blessing, she calls it, of having someone in the right place in the right time.

“He is truly angel for what he did and I don’t remember seeing anyone else just him,” she said.

All Alicia has is a few scrapes on her arm and a bruise on her thigh.
