Child struck by car on York Road in Towson

TOWSON, Md. - A pedestrian boy was struck while crossing York Road in Towson Friday. 

The 12-year-old boy was injured in the 6400 block of York Road in Towson, near St. Pius. Police said the boy suffered serious injuries. 

Three boys were crossing the road along with one of the boys' mothers. The boys told police that they were in the crosswalk when one of the boys was clipped by a car heading northbound on York Road. 

Emergency responders transported to the child via ambulance to Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, ABC2 News observed. 

The group was crossing the street at about 3:14 p.m. coming from the Dumbarton Middle School area.

Traffic was blocked in both directions for at least 20 minutes following the accident. 

The car remained at the scene after the crash.
