BCPS gets new school safety chief

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WMAR) - Baltimore County Public Schools have a new school safety chief.

On Tuesday, Superintendent S. Dallas Dance announced that Dale Rauenzahn, who has served as the head of student support services, was approved by the school board as the new position of executive director of school safety and security.

The new position was created after two gun incidents occurred within the school system in two weeks. The first happened on the first day of school when a Perry Hall High School student was injured in a cafeteria shooting.

Two weeks later, a Stemmers Run Middle School student brought a loaded gun to school and threatened his teachers and classmates.
